On September 23rd 2016, I went to Yangon, Myanmar to visit my partner and I booked a room at Hotel Esta.
The room that I booked was a Superior Room that included a queen size bed with room facilities such as:
- Air conditioning
- In-room safe
- Blackout curtains
- Coffee/tea maker
- Non-smoking room
- television LCD/plasma screen
- Complimentary bottled water
- Satellite/cable channels
- Wi-Fi [free]
- Hair dryer
- Seating area
The internet access (free wifi) was amazing unless it was used by everyone in the hotel! The only times that are fast is during the early morning, evening and late at night (12am onwards).
Getting around was pretty simple because there were taxi services waiting outside the hotel. However, if you ask the hotel to rent you a taxi they will double charge your fees (for example going to the airport is 8000 kyats when in reality it’s only 4000 kyats – don’t fall for it, know the value).
With dining, there is a restaurant and room service at the hotel. The food at the restaurant ranges from European, Western, Thai and Myanmar food (can pay both by Kyats or US Dollar). Also, the hotel is surrounded by food places such as street food near Junction Mawtin and then YKKO, Shan Yoe Yar and Feel Restaurant.
Some of the other services that Hotel Esta offers include:
- Laundry service
- Safety deposit boxes
- Currency exchange
- Luggage storage
- Smoking area
- Front desk [24-hour]
The concierge service is full of people with nice manners and has great service. Every time I walk through the door or go out, they always greet me.
The laundry service is amazing!! They charge you per clothing item – but once the laundry is done it is packaged nicely, smells good and is put on your bed ready for you.
For the superior room, I paid $55 USD per night. It was great and I am highly satisfied! Will surely go back to this place!
