Chanel is the founder of Pink & Sparkles blog and graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Health Science and Bachelor of Laws (LLB). Chanel and I have been great friends for a while now and I think the first time I’ve actually spoken to her was when I was possibly around 15 or 16 years of age, and she was always someone that I’ve looked up to. Her sass, her attitude and her goals were something that I was inspired by.
And below is the interview that I had with her.
Hi Chanel, thank you for doing this interview with me! The other day I was just counting the years of our friendship and it’s been about 6 years since we’ve known each other. Ever since day one, I have looked up to you because you’re such an inspiration and I am honoured that you’re the first person to do this amazing segment of mine. For readers who don’t know you yet, what or who inspired you to start blogging?
It was nearly four years ago (if I can remember correctly) when my ex-boyfriend took me to media events and fun product launches, I got to see that side of the world and it inspired me to be creative and starting my own blog began purely as a creative platform for me. Then, I discovered amazing top girls like Nicole Warne from Gary Pepper Girl, and she was one of the first girls who inspired me to blog.
What’s your favourite thing about blogging?
The amazing connections I’ve made and every day, you learn something new from it, the experiences and opportunities I’ve been able to create, as well as been given.
Besides being a lifestyle blogger, you’re also a lawyer, what made you want to be a lawyer?
These days, I’ve been specifically focusing on travel. Yes, I’m also a lawyer and I love it. As cliche as this sounds, I’ve always wanted to be a lawyer, and throughout high school, I was preparing for it. I feel that my personality really suits my profession.
How do you manage your time efficiently? I know you’re such a hard-worker, but honestly, how do you even stay motivated?
I’m constantly thinking of new ideas, new projects and that gets me motivated, inspired and creative. I get asked this question a lot…it also comes down to planning your days, weeks and sometimes even months, in advance!
What do you want to succeed in the next year or so? Will we see any projects, such as building your own store or clothing line?
I hope to publish a lot more travel features! I definitely do want to incorporate an online store on my blog, I’m extremely picky about what goes on my blog these days, so the concept is still in process, but stay tuned!
Now I know you’re such a fashionista, how would you describe your personal style and is there a person who is a fashion inspiration to you?
Naturally, my style has definitely evolved. I’m always a little dressed up and I would describe my personal style as effortless, chic with a touch of sexy, depending on the occasion. I love a pop of colour every now and then!
You also love to travel! what has been your favourite place so far?
It’s so hard to pick a favourite because each country has their own uniqueness and beauty but I recently really enjoyed London and Paris. I had so much fun shopping in London, and it’s vibrant every night, and it really brought out the party girl in me again! They say that you never forget your first time in Paris and this is so true. It was stunning, romantic and I still think about it every other day!
Now let’s have some fun and I’ll ask you 5 random questions.
1. Current fashion obsession? Really loving very strappy heels
2. Celebrity crush? I don’t actually have one!
3. Coffee or tea? Tea
4. A favourite TV show? I don’t watch TV anymore so, none at the moment!
5. Favourite top 3 bands/artists? I don’t have a favourite but currently, I’m loving the song Naked by Christopher
Any final words for young women out there?
Focus on your goals, follow your dreams, work hard and make yourself a priority and really love yourself first and foremost.
Thank you again for taking the time to do this interview with me, it has been a pleasure!
